Course Overview

Continues basic language and culture study. Offers an opportunity to build receptive and expressive ASL vocabulary. Topics include the use of signing space and further use of non-manual components, including facial expression and body postures.

Course Advantages

Consider these questions when thinking about taking up American Sign Language (ASL):

  • Have you ever strolled by a couple of people using their hands to communicate and wanted to know what sign language is all about?
  • Have you had some experiences signing but want to expand on your knowledge of sign language?
  • Do you have deaf relatives or friends or coworkers that you have always wanted to communicate with but didn’t know how?

If you have answered "yes" to one of the questions above then you should be intrigued. The subject matter is also unique in its own way.

Additional Information

  • Need to be capable of working independently to complete assignments
  • Webcam is required to create and view recordings

Faculty will contact all students after the Friday, December 20, registration deadline.
