Introduces American Sign Language and Deaf culture, focusing on frequently used signs, basic rules of grammar, non-manual aspects of ASL, introductory finger-spelling, and some cultural features of the Deaf community.
Consider these questions when thinking about taking up American Sign Language (ASL):
If you have answered "yes" to one of the questions above then you should be intrigued. The subject matter is also unique in its own way.
Students will need to be capable of working independently to complete assignments and students will also be expected to use a webcam to create and view recordings.
Experience in ASL will not be required.
Faculty will contact all students after the Friday, December 20, registration deadline.
