Course Overview

Analysis of social and theoretical aspects of persuasion, development of attitudes, beliefs and attitude change in contexts such as advertising, marketing, and social media.

May be taken twice (COM majors and minors may count only one toward requirements).

About the Instructor

Anne F. Mattina

Professor of Communication
Anne Mattina joined the Stonehill College community in 1997. She is a scholar of American women’s public communication in politics and social movements. In addition to her research on women's labor activism, Mattina has also published on the relationship between the media and female candidates along with the persuasive activities of First Ladies. Her work has appeared in publications like Women’s Studies and Feminist Formations.

Mattina holds several other roles at the College. She acts as the faculty liaison to the women’s basketball team. She is the advisor of Lambda Pi Eta, the Communication Honors Society. She also serves on the Faculty Senate and the Board of Fellows.
