Course Overview

This is a Finance major required course, and it is open to International Business and other business majors. The course introduces students to global financial markets and operations of Multinational Corporations (MNCs), and equips them with tools and methods to study and analyze international financial issues and problems. Topics to be discussed include the international monetary system, balance of payments, the foreign exchange market, currency futures and options markets, Euromarkets, risk management, and investment decisions in the global marketplace.

Course Advantages

Because we operate in an integrated world economy, all students of finance should have an international orientation. Indeed, rarely does a company today, in any country, not have a supplier, competitor, or customer located abroad. The traditional and fundamental financing and investment questions that are the staple of corporate finance courses become new again in the cross-border setting of the multinational firm. The course materials are designed to address the many aspects of financial decision-making within global firms prompted by these changes that are not addressed in traditional materials. It is applied and real-world issues-oriented, and the focus will be on the fundamentals as well as integrative issues in a multinational environment.

Additional Information

Faculty will contact all students after the Friday, December 20, registration deadline.
