Taught by supportive professors with a broad spectrum of interests, communication classes at Stonehill are supplemented by extensive campus media resources and paired with internship opportunities that include New York publishing houses, the entertainment industry in Los Angeles and local media outlets.
Stonehill Undergraduate Research Experience (SURE)
The Stonehill Undergraduate Research Experience (SURE) is an opportunity for students who have completed their first year at Stonehill to perform significant, publishable, full-time research under the guidance of and in collaboration with an experienced faculty researcher.
Recent Communication Research Project
- Pierrce Holmes ’18 worked with Anne Mattina, professor of Communication, on The Rhetorical Power of Place in American Civil Rights.
- Gabrielle Jaques ’16 worked with Ron Leone, professor of Communication, on “Scorsese’s Score: Use of Music in Life Lessons.”
Eastern Communication Association Conference
Many Stonehill Communication students have participated in research with Department faculty and presented their findings at the Eastern Communication Association conference, winning prizes and being published in scholarly journals.
Recent Communication Research Project
- Domenique Ciavattone ’13 assisted Anne Mattina, associate professor of Communication, on “Striking Women: Massachusetts Mill Workers & Rhetorical Agency, 1912”, which examined the pivotal Bread and Roses strike in Lawrence. Their work was accepted for presentation at The Bread and Roses Centennial Academic Symposium.
