Math Readiness Assessments
Stonehill College offers two math readiness assessments: one for business majors and another for students who need to take calculus.
Assessments are due May 18, 2024.
Business Mathematics Readiness Assessment
You are required to take the Business Mathematics Readiness Assessment if you are intending to major in accounting, business analytics, finance, international business, management, management information systems, marketing, sport management, or talent and human resources management. Additionally, if you are entering as “undeclared business,” you must take the Business Mathematics Readiness Assessment. Your assessment score will be combined with data from your admission record to allow us to determine your mathematics readiness and to aid in placing you in the proper mathematics course.
Students planning to major in economics or healthcare management are exempt from the Business Mathematics Readiness Assessment but are encouraged to consider taking it if they are exploring or undecided about their specific area of business focus.

Calculus Readiness Assessment
You are required to take the Calculus Readiness Assessment if you are intending to major in actuarial mathematics, astronomy, computer science, data science, earth and planetary sciences, economics, engineering, mathematics, photonics or physics. Students in other science disciplines should take this assessment as well if they want to be considered for calculus in their first semester. Your assessment score will be combined with data from your admission record to allow us to make a recommendation as to which math course will be the best option for you in the fall.
If you are majoring in one of the other sciences, you are NOT required to take the Calculus Readiness Assessment because our recommendation is for you to take pre-calculus prior to taking calculus. However, you may take the Calculus Readiness Assessment if you have a strong background in calculus and would like to be able to bypass pre-calculus and go directly into calculus.
The only purpose of this assessment is to determine which math course will be the best option for you. Please answer questions to the best of your ability. Otherwise, the recommendation may not be suitable to your level of knowledge.
