Wellness Initiatives Fund
With the generous support of alums, the College has created a Wellness Initiatives Fund, which provides financial support to various student wellness programs, trainings, and events. Student groups, faculty, and staff are encouraged to apply for these funds to either develop new and innovative wellness initiatives or enhance current program offerings. A few examples that may be considered for funding include:
- Developing and implementing new programs that educate on the mind, body, and spirit connection
- Creating best practice offerings for students on mental health, anxiety, depression, and suicide
- Inviting impactful guest speakers to campus
- Offering weekly meditation classes for students
- Sending student leaders to conferences to learn about mental health issues and how to address these within a college campus setting
- Supporting and enhancing large-scale events such as Fresh Check Day, a suicide prevention wellness event
Preference will be given to programs, initiatives, and opportunities that serve as models for replication and sustainability on the Stonehill campus, demonstrate collaboration across areas, and/or extend the impact of an already existing program or event at Stonehill.
Funding
Funding requests may be made up to $500 and will be evaluated based on the criteria mentioned above, number of proposals received, and resources available for that year. Funds may be used to support stipends for outside speakers, materials, rental costs, and general services. Food costs will be considered; however, they can comprise only up to 50% of the full grant request. Funds may not be used to self-stipend a Stonehill student, faculty, or staff member.
Application Requirements
Applications will be considered on a rolling basis and can be found online HERE. Requests must be submitted at least 15 days in advance of the program or initiative start date. Applications will be reviewed within a week by the Wellness Initiatives Fund team, chaired by the Vice President for Student Affairs and comprised of representatives from across campus with knowledge of and interest in student wellness topics.
If a proposal is approved and funds are awarded, the lead contact person for the initiative will be required to submit a brief summary following implementation to include information regarding the ultimate scope and impact of the program.
Please contact the Office of Student Affairs at 508-565-1363 or studentaffairs@stonehill.edu with any questions. Thank you for your interest in our students’ ongoing health and wellbeing, and we look forward to receiving your proposals.
