Information for Parents
Counseling Services welcomes calls from concerned parents.
We would be glad to discuss:
- Concerns regarding your student
- The process of referring your student to Counseling Services
- Developmental issues of college-age students
- The range of services that are provided by Counseling Services
- Other on and off-campus resources that may be appropriate
If you decide to encourage your student to make an appointment at Counseling Services, it is recommended that they make the initial contact by calling us at 508-565-1331, Option 1, during regular office hours (8:30 am - 4:30 pm, Monday - Friday). A part of the beneficial process of counseling begins with your student taking responsibility the student's own well-being by scheduling a first appointment. Please note, if your student is in need of urgent support, they can be connected to a clinician by calling our 24/7 Urgent Support Line: 508-565-1331, Option 2.
Counseling meetings are fully confidential as set by professional and legal guidelines. While we can discuss the scope of our services, review on and off campus resources, document your concerns, and brainstorm strategies to assist you in supporting your student, specific clinical information about a student can only be shared with the expressed written permission of the student or under specific exceptions defined by law.
For more in-depth understanding of the counseling process, our services, the scope of support available on-campus, and when off-campus referral may be utilized, please see our General Information page which includes information that we present to students upon intake.
Counseling Services is committed to the development of the whole person: intellectually, emotionally, socially, spiritually and physically. Counseling Services provides confidential, appointment-based support to Stonehill College students.
