As the Class of 2027 prepares for Summer Orientation 2023, taking place from June 26 to 27 and June 29 to 30, some of our orientation leaders reflect on their own experiences with the program, as well as the work they have done to help other students acclimate to Stonehill College.

Embracing Your Found Family

"Orientation was the best experience of my life. It was my first time at college and my first time away from home, even though it was only for two nights. I met my first Stonehill family and my best friends. My orientation leaders were the best; they made sure I was ready and prepared from day one. My orientation group was such a family that we call our orientation leaders 'Mom' and 'Dad.'" –Silvianna Zhao '23

Getting Comfortable on Campus

"Becoming an orientation leader was one of the best decisions I have made since coming to Stonehill. I was able to help the incoming class feel comfortable with coming to Stonehill, which is something my orientation leaders did for me when I was a first-year student." –Steven Leone '25

Helping Everyone in Their Own Way

"I really liked getting to meet a small group of students and getting to know them better. I'm still friends with some of the people from my orientation group. I really liked how orientation helped everyone in their own way, so it really pushed me to be an orientation leader myself." –Aidan Shea '23

Becoming Who You Are Meant to Be

"As soon as I was on campus as a first-year student, I felt welcomed, looked up to my mentors, and I am super grateful for them because they made me become who I am today. In my three following years as an orientation leader, my goal was always to uplift students' confidence and determination to come to college." –Britney Savage '23

Creating Meaningful Bonds

"Being an orientation leader the past two years was a huge step out of my comfort zone. But the tight-knit friendships and the connections with the first-years that I have created and maintained are the most rewarding." –Kelly McCormick '24

Bringing Out the Best in Yourself

"As an orientation leader, I can confidently tell you that orientation really brings out the best in all of us, and it's a great way of transitioning and getting ready to live at Stonehill." –Cameron Wetzel '21
