Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, and what better way to celebrate than by attending Lovecapella? The annual event, taking place this year on Friday, February 10 at 6 p.m. in The Hill, features performances by Girls from the Hill and Surround Sound, the College’s a cappella groups.

Taylor Sprague ’23, who serves co-president of Girls from the Hill alongside Jenny Dasilva ’24, notes that audiences are in for a real treat when she and her peers take the stage.

“They can expect to experience a story through music,” she said. “Without giving anything away, we will start the performance with some heartbreak pieces, and then slowly move into a new love story to end on a high note. This is something different than what we have done in the past, but we think it’ll be a great way to captivate the audience.”

Britney Savage ’23, one of Surround Sound’s presidents and a performer with Girls from the Hill, said that Lovecapella is one of her favorite events of the year.

“While love is usually depicted as positive, there's also complex areas of it too,” she said. “We are all passionate about music and we bring that to life by having this event acknowledging the real meanings of love.”

Michael Kennedy ’23, the other president of Surround Sound, is excited that the program allows performers the chance to highlight the different ways that love can be expressed.

“I love Lovecapella specifically because it showcases student talent and music that resembles all types of love,” he said.
