Academic leaders and faculty recently celebrated the work of their colleagues during Stonehill College’s 74th academic year. Two professors received distinguished honors.
Outstanding Faculty Advising & Mentorship Award
Associate Professor of Sociology Jungyun Gill received the 2023 Outstanding Faculty Advising & Mentorship Award. This honor is given to a full-time faculty member who demonstrates Stonehill’s commitment to the academic, professional and personal development of each student and has had a markedly positive influence on students through their advising and mentoring.
In a citation conferring Gill’s award, President John Denning, C.S.C., and Vice President for Academic Affairs Peter Ubertaccio wrote that Gill has gone above and beyond to support students.
“Jungyun challenges her mentees to think critically, take risks, and pursue their passions,” they wrote. “She also takes the time to understand each student's unique goals and interests, tailoring her guidance and support accordingly. Overall, Jungyun is an exceptional mentor who embodies the qualities and values of the College.”
Outstanding Faculty Service Leadership Award
Associate Professor of Education Elizabeth Stringer Keefe received the 2023 Outstanding Faculty Service Leadership Award, which is given to a full-time faculty member whose service and leadership have significantly advanced the mission of Stonehill College.
In a citation conferring Stringer Keefe’s award, President Denning and Ubertaccio noted that the faculty member exemplifies the qualities that model a life of purpose for students and the broader community.
“You have forged numerous partnerships between Stonehill and local schools and school districts, and your leadership and dedication has been instrumental in the design and development of our master’s degrees in inclusive education, post-baccalaureate education licensure programs, graduate education certificates, and particularly our partnership with Stonehill at Riverview,” they said.
