Faculty Honored for Contributions to Stonehill Community
Professor Nicole Capezza, Professor Paul Dawley and Professor Jennifer Swanson were recently recognized by their peers and academic leaders.
As Stonehill College's 75th academic year drew to a close, administrators and faculty recently celebrated the work of their colleagues. Three professors received distinguished honors.
Outstanding Faculty Service Leadership Award
Associate Professor of Psychology Nicole Capezza received the 2024 Outstanding Faculty Service Leadership Award. This honor is given to a full-time faculty member who demonstrates Stonehill’s commitment to the academic, professional and personal development of each student and has had a markedly positive influence on students through their advising and mentoring.
In a citation conferring Capezza's award, President John Denning, C.S.C., and Vice President for Academic Affairs Peter Ubertaccio wrote that her contributions to the institution embody the spirit of Light and Hope.
"Her leadership within the College community is characterized by a profound dedication to mission and values, inspiring collaboration and fostering a commitment to Stonehill's ethos," they said.
Award for Excellence in Teaching by Adjunct Faculty
Adjunct Professor of Criminology Paul Dawley received the inaugural Award for Excellence in Teaching by Adjunct Faculty. This award is given to a part-time faculty member to acknowledge the invaluable dedication and expertise that they bring to our classrooms and to recognize the impact they have on our students' lives.
In a citation conferring Dawley's award, President John Denning, C.S.C., and Vice President for Academic Affairs Peter Ubertaccio wrote that Dawley epitomizes the values of excellence, mentorship, and generosity.
"With a steadfast commitment to nurturing the next generation of legal minds, he has not only imparted knowledge but also instilled a profound sense of purpose and preparedness in his students," they wrote.
Award for Excellence in Advising & Mentoring
Professor of International Business Jennifer Swanson received the 2024 Award for Excellence in Advising & Mentoring. This award recognizes a faculty member who goes above and beyond in fostering the academic, professional, and personal growth of each student.
In a citation conferring Swanson's award, President John Denning, C.S.C., and Vice President for Academic Affairs Peter Ubertaccio wrote that Swanson's exceptional dedication to student success and mentorship at Stonehill College has garnered widespread recognition and praise.
"Through her tireless efforts, Professor Swanson ensures that every student she advises receives personalized support to navigate their goals and aspirations at Stonehill and beyond," they wrote.
