Director of Purchasing Gregory Wolfe Receives Stonehill Sustainability Award
The Stonehill staff member was honored during a recent meeting of the Environmental Stewardship Council.
Director of Purchasing Gregory Wolfe recently received the Stonehill Sustainability Award from the College’s Environmental Stewardship Council. This honor celebrates his commitment to promoting green policies and practices on campus.
“I’m humbled by this recognition and driven to do more to steer the world toward a culture of sustainability,” said Wolfe, who will retire in September 2025 after 33 years at the College.
Wolfe was one of the original founders of the Environmental Stewardship Council, a coalition of students, faculty and staff that seeks to promote environmentally conscious activities on campus and beyond. His accomplishments as part of the council include:
- Helping campus departments reduce their use of paper and plastic, increase local purchasing, introduce energy efficient equipment as part of their operations, and more.
- Working with vendors to supply sustainable items for the Green Kits provided to first-year students each fall.
- Developing the Sustainable Skyhawk Move Out initiative, through which students can donate unwanted items instead of discarding them at the end of the academic year.
- Collaborating with local organizations like My Brother’s Keeper, the Old Colony Easton Y, and the Easton Lions Club to redistribute materials no longer used by the College.
- Providing support to Professor of Chemistry Cheryl Schnitzer as she developed Reuzzi, a data-driven mobile app to track takeout food containers.
Reflecting on his work at Stonehill, Wolfe is grateful to have collaborated with a wide range of campus community members on green initiatives.
“Stonehill has so many talented students and employees who do their best to meet the needs of others with sustainable, efficient, and Earth-affirming action,” he said.
