Br. James Walters, C.S.C., Closes Commencement 2023 With Benediction
The campus minister for retreats and faith formation prayed that graduates feel enabled to use their talents to bring light and hope to those in need.
My dear friends, let us unite our minds and hearts in prayer as we ask for God’s blessings upon the graduates of the Class of 2023.
May God who has begun this good work in you bring it to fulfillment, enabling you to use your unique gifts and talents to bring light and hope to a world so desperately in need.
May God give you the grace to make wise choices and to be faithful to your commitments, never forgetting to lean on those who love you the most.
May God bless you with discomfort at easy answers, half-truths, and superficial relationships, so that you will live a life of honor and integrity.
May God bless you with anger at injustice, oppression, and exploitation of people, so that you will work for justice, equity, and peace.
May God bless you with tears to shed for those who suffer from pain, rejection, neglect, and war, so that you will reach out your hand in loving solidarity.
May God bless you with the foolishness to think that you can make a difference in the world, so that you will do the things which others tell you cannot be done.
Above all, may God bless you with the competence to see, and the courage to act, so that together we may all work toward the creation of a more just and compassionate world.
We ask this all in the name of Christ the Lord, through the intercession of our Blessed patroness and Alma Mater, Mary, Queen of the Summit.
Amen
