Award for Excellence in Teaching by Adjunct Faculty for Denis Malin

The Award for Excellence in Teaching by Adjunct Faculty is given to a part-time faculty member to acknowledge the invaluable dedication and expertise that adjunct faculty bring to our classrooms and to recognize the impact they have on our students' lives. Stonehill College is proud to bestow the Fall 2024 Award for Excellence in Teaching by Adjunct Faculty on Professor Denis Malin.

Since joining Stonehill College in 2018, Professor Denis Malin has exemplified exceptional teaching in the Meehan School of Business, combining his extensive industry expertise with a deep commitment to student success. With decades of leadership experience, including roles as Chief Information Officer and Senior Vice President of Au Bon Pain and other major corporations, Professor Malin brings real-world insights into the classroom, enriching the learning experience for his students.

In his courses, such as Project Management and Policy & Strategy, Professor Malin fosters experiential learning by engaging students in impactful, real-world projects. His Project Management students work on meaningful initiatives sourced from across the campus, while his Policy & Strategy classes collaborate with local businesses to solve complex challenges. These hands-on experiences allow students to apply theoretical knowledge, gain practical skills, and understand the professional implications of their work.

Professor Malin is highly regarded by his students, who describe him as patient, kind, and incredibly knowledgeable. He encourages critical thinking, provides space for autonomy, and supports his students in pushing beyond their comfort zones. His mentorship has left a lasting impact, with students praising his guidance and recognizing him as an inspiring role model.

Beyond the classroom, Professor Malin’s contributions to the Stonehill community are extensive. Whether serving on taskforces, offering feedback on academic programs, or supporting colleagues, his generosity and dedication are evident. His thoughtful approach and collaborative spirit have strengthened both the Meehan School of Business and the College as a whole.
