• Fall 2019 Recap: What was most popular at the library over the course of the fall semester? We have some fun statistics and pictures to show you!
• Register to vote by February 12th and Request Your Absentee Ballot: Believe it or not, it is that time again. The 2020 election is right around the corner. This may be the first time you have the opportunity to vote in a presidential election. The Iowa caucuses are next week on February 3rd, and Super Tuesday is only a month later on March 3rd. If you are a Massachusetts resident and are going to be on campus on Super Tuesday but still want to vote, make sure you get an absentee ballot.  It is very easy, and you can vote from campus.
• Activate or Renew Your New York Times and Wall Street Journal Access: With the start of the new year, be sure to activate (or update) your access to the library’s group pass to the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal. Current active registered users will simply be asked to reactivate their WSJ account by visiting the link in our LibGuide. Even if you already have an account on either platform, reactivating will ensure that you do not lose access during the semester.
• Crafternoons Return: Make a Valentine’s Day card for seniors at a local nursing home on Monday, February 10th from 2-4 at the library next to Ace's Place. All supplies will be provided! Stop by to make a card or two to brighten someone's day!

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion:

• February Begins Black History Month: Every year the Association for the Study of African American Life and History selects a theme. For 2020, the theme is African Americans and the Vote. Not only is this theme very timely because it is an election year, but it is the centennial of the passage of the 19th Amendment, which gave women the right to vote, and the sesquicentennial of the 15th Amendment, which gave African American men the right to vote.

• Workshops in the Digital Lab: The Digital Lab supports a variety of digital scholarship/teaching projects on Stonehill Domains, our shared web-hosting services. We’ll be holding workshop sessions for anyone interested in building or publishing their own online content on org, beginning this Friday, January 31st. These will be good opportunities to get started or receive guidance as you work on an existing project.
• CWAA Spring 2020 Hours: Writing tutoring and subject tutoring is available through the CWAA. For additional information, please contact the CWAA.
• Books on Black History: Scroll to the bottom of the library website to view a curated list of books on Black History Month.
• Love Notes to the Library: Beginning in February, be sure to stop by the whiteboard in the front of the library to share what you love about the library. We’ll highlight some of the responses over the next few weeks.
• Crafternoons in the Library: Crafters worldwide came together over the past several months to knit and sew handmade cotton pouches, wraps, and mittens for displaced, injured, and orphaned Australian wildlife affected by the raging bushfires. On Friday, January 17th, Stonehill students came by the library to make "Joey pouches" for baby kangaroos (joeys), sugar gliders, and wallabies. 23 students participated and collectively, 13 pouches with an inner and outer liner were completed! No sewing experience was necessary and not only did students learn to use a sewing machine, they helped wildlife, too.
