Meet Julia Marchak
Meet Julia Marchak
The MacPhaidin Library is fortunate to welcome Stonehill senior Julia Marchak to our team this spring. As an intern with the Library’s Web and Social Media Team, Julia will write articles for the library newsletter and create content for its social media channels. The job is a perfect fit for Julia, who is actively pursuing a career in publishing that will take her to Scotland in the fall for graduate school. She hopes the MacPhaidin Library will help further her career goals in the world of publishing and prepare her for her future studies.
About Julia
One of Julia’s most memorable Stonehill experiences was a semester spent abroad at the University of Stirling in Scotland during her junior year. She said her time there was a perfect complement to her studies at Stonehill, where she is a double major in English and International Business.
“I think Stonehill really helped me with that study abroad experience…From when I first applied to it, everything was just so seamless, it was so easy,” she said of how Stonehill helped her coordinate the trip. "They make you feel comfortable when you’re going over so that when you’re actually over there, you’re not stressing about anything. You’re just there to have a great time. "
Julia was born and currently resides in Connecticut. She also spent time living in Atlanta and Denver as her family moved around the United States for her father’s job.
What’s Next? Disney College Program and Graduate School in Scotland
2024 is an eventful year for Julia. Following May’s graduation, she will fly to Florida to begin a summer job with Disney’s College Program. She will work at Disney World alongside other college students and recent graduates. She was moved to apply for that position after participating in Stonehill’s Disney Leadership program – a program she credits for helping develop her business leadership and communication skills.
From Orlando, Julia will return to the University of Stirling to pursue a Master’s in the Letters of Publishing Studies. Julia hopes that her coursework, which focuses on the business of publishing, will help her achieve her goal of working at a prominent publishing house such as Bloomsbury.
