Library De-Stress Day
Two weeks to go...You've got this!
It might be hard to believe but classes end one week from today, Reading Day is Thursday, Dec. 15, and final exams kick off the following day. We understand it is a busy, nerve-wracking time of year but we are here for you, willing to provide library resources, services, and some stress-busting activities (food! crafts! dogs!) to lighten the load.
On Monday, Dec. 18, we will host our annual Library De-Stress Day. Check out the schedule below and follow our social media streams for updates.
- All Day – Send some positive affirmations and best wishes to your fellow students on our positivity whiteboard located near the library’s entrance.
- All Day – Enjoy some snacks on us. Look for the baskets for our salty and sweet (and peanut free) treats. They’ll be scattered around the library’s first floor and replenished through the day.
- All Day – Don’t worry about rushing to do your holiday wrapping once you get home. We will have a gift-wrapping station set up on the library's first floor in the alcove to the right of the printers. We will have all the boxes, paper and bows you will need, so take a quick break and wrap some gifts.
- Noontime - Pet Therapy with Lucy. Petting Lucy, our snuggly, enormous, and affectionate therapy dog, is guaranteed to bring stress levels down.
- 2:30-3:30 p.m. - Lydia Hogan from the college’s office of Health and Wellness will be on hand with all the supplies you need to make self-care kits in the Huddle Spaces. This event was a huge hit last year with students scooping up the stress balls, sleep masks and herbal tea.
- 2:30-3:30 - Kaitlin Carson and Jordan Ellis from counseling services will offer “Mandalas for Mindfulness.” They will set up mandala coloring books, coloring supplies, and snacks at the large conference table next to Ace’s Place.
- 4-5 p.m. - The Art Club will be making holiday cards in the Huddle Space and all the supplies you need will be provided.
- 4:30 p.m. - Pet Therapy with Sunny.
- 6 p.m. until it’s gone – free donuts, coffee, and hot chocolate - maybe even a holiday movie - in the digital lab. Get there early! The first 50 students who show up will get a free Stonehill College coffee mug.
In addition to the stress-relief we hope to offer on the 18th, we’re here to support you in other ways as the semester draws to a close.
Before Exams: Writing Those Final Papers

Studying
If you need a quiet place to cram for exams or practice for a presentation, book a study room. If you need a space to relax, check out the sensory room, located at the end of the hallway to the left of the digital lab.
If you show up for a marathon study session and realize you forgot your laptop charger, don’t worry. The Library of Things likely has what you need - such as laptop chargers, phone chargers, graphic calculators, dry-erase markers, headphones, display ports, cable connectors and more.
Library Resources for Relaxation
The Library of Things also has plenty of items to help you de-stress, such as happy lights, foam rollers, game consoles, board games, and more. If you want to relax with a good book, check out the Leisure Reading collection, which is next to the Library of Things.
