Biography
Michael Mullen brings to Stonehill’s Meehan School of Business more than 30 years of international investment research, corporate finance and advisory, portfolio management and venture capital investment experience with a particular focus in life sciences and medical technology. As a former partner of Wall Street-based Cowen & Co., he was a senior member of the #1 ranked investment research team in Medical Technology according to Greenwich Associates during most of the 1990’s. He later joined Bellevue Research, advisory service to Bellevue Asset Management of Zurich, Switzerland, as a senior portfolio manager with responsibilities for its flagship funds BB Medtech and BB Biotech where he also led the research operation in its Boston office. He is currently the Managing Director of Tarvos Capital Management, LLC, a consulting firm that maintains an exclusive investment research advisory relationship with the Bellevue Group, now an independent Swiss financial boutique listed on the SIX Swiss Exchange.
In addition to his accomplished work experience, Mullen has previously taught financial and managerial accounting at the Kelly School of Business at Indiana University (IU) and has over the years, guest lectured at the IU MBA program among other colleges on topics such as equity research, portfolio management strategy, venture investing and entrepreneurship. In addition to his teaching responsibilities, he is the founding director of the Stonehill College Inspire Finance Initiative (SCIFI), faculty advisor for the Stonehill Financial Management Association and chair of the department’s Mission Strategy Committee.
He is a member of the Board of Advisors of the Indiana University MBA Investment Management Academy. He is also a member of the Board of Beta Alpha Psi, the international honors organization for financial information students and professionals. Previous Board of Director experiences include Centelion S.A.S. (Sanofi), Eyetech Pharmaceuticals, Theravance, Auxilium and formerly founding Chairman of EyeGate Pharmaceuticals of Waltham, Massachusetts.
