Biography

Professor of Practice in Education and Coordinator of Field Experience Fran Roy is a distinguished educator with over 30 years of experience in mathematics education and leadership. Throughout her career, Roy has been deeply committed to advancing educational equity.

She began as a middle school math teacher before becoming an Assistant Professor of Education at the University of Rhode Island. Later, she returned to public education as the Chief Academic Officer for the Fall River Public Schools, playing a pivotal role in transforming the district from state-mandated recovery to release from state monitoring. Before joining the faculty at Stonehill College, Roy continued her work in school transformation as the on-site Receiver for Parker Elementary in New Bedford, Massachusetts, and Dever Elementary in Boston, Massachusetts.
