Biography

Associate Professor of Sport Management Annemarie Farrell joined the Stonehill College community in 2024. Her primary research and teaching area centers on sport marketing, sales, and sport consumer behavior, with a keen interest in classroom pedagogical strategies regarding sales skill development. Many of her courses focus on the connection between sport marketing practices and sociology, focusing on the ways fan motivation and consumer behavior reflect economic, cultural, and attitudinal developments in society at large. She has researched and presented on spectator motivations regarding women’s sports, notably among female sport fans.

Prior to arriving at Stonehill, Farrell spent 18 years at Ithaca College, expanding experiential learning offerings through strategic partnerships with numerous leagues and organizations, including the National Football League, International Olympic Committee, National Collegiate Athletic Association, Women’s National Basketball Association, Major League Baseball, Twitch, and National Women’s Soccer League. Her work in creating transformational student experiences was recognized by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business International through the “Innovations that Inspire Award,” the organization’s highest honor for business education.

Farrell is a manager of the U.S. women’s national rugby team and has coached rugby teams at Mount Holyoke College, Denison University, and Cornell University. She spent 15 years as head coach for Ithaca College men’s rugby, one of only a few men’s teams led by a female.
