Erin O'Hea

Biography

Professor O’Hea brings an extensive academic and professional background to the Psychology department. After earning her doctorate in clinical psychology, with an expertise in behavioral medicine, she completed her internship in health psychology at Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New Jersey, where she also completed her postdoctoral fellowship year in addiction research. Prior to coming to Stonehill College, Professor O’Hea held a tenure-track position at La Salle University and was the director of the Division of Behavioral Medicine at The Cooper Cancer Institute at Cooper University Hospital in Voorhees, NJ.

In addition to her appointment at Stonehill, Professor O’Hea is an associate professor of psychiatry at the University of Massachusetts Medical School in Worcester, MA. As the recipient of several grants, including funding from the National Institutes of Health, O’Hea’s research interests include health locus of control, coping with breast cancer and the adoption of healthy lifestyle behaviors. In 2009, she received the New Jersey Cancer Research Excellence Award for her research on breast cancer. Most recently, she has focused her efforts on research examining breast cancer survivorship, treatments for food addiction and mindfulness-based interventions.
