Dr. Deborah J. Wu (she/her) is an assistant professor of psychology. She studies how social identities and emotions shape our experiences, attitudes, and behavior. Specifically, her research 1) examines how stereotypes impact individuals with stigmatized identities and develops interventions to mitigate the negative effects of these stereotypes, 2) identifies situational contexts that impact intergroup perceptions, and 3) tests why and how different emotions have distinct impacts on our attitudes and behavior. Her work has been published in journals such as Nature Communications and Emotion.

Professor Wu received her Ph.D. in social psychology from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 2022 and completed a postdoctoral research fellowship at Northwestern University in 2023.

In her spare time, she enjoys listening to and playing music, watching Broadway musicals, playing tennis, and hanging out with her cat, Mochi.
