Biography

A graduate of Stonehill College (1997), Professor Poirier returned to his alma mater in 2004. Prior to teaching at Stonehill, he taught at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst and St. Lawrence University.

Professor Poirier’s research interests include the developmental changes in face recognition, the efficacy of technology in the classroom, and the science of studying. He is passionate about involving undergraduate students in his research during the academic year and during the summer through the SURE program. He has published articles in Perspectives on Psychological Science, Computers in Human Behavior, Teaching of Psychology, and the Psi Chi Journal of Undergraduate Research, among others.

When Professor Poirier is not on campus, he enjoys spending time with his wife (also a Stonehill graduate!) and two children. His hobbies include skiing, running, and golfing.
