Charlotte Mullen
Instructor of Speech Language Pathology
Charlotte Mullen is the primary audiologist for the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing Program at Boston Children’s Hospital, where she services a diverse pediatric, multi-handicapped and medically involved population. She is also the coordinator for the Education and Training Program for doctoral student interns.
Mullen has earned her Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology (CCC-A) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, and is a fellow of the American Academy of Audiology.
She has presented at numerous conferences, including the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association, the American Academy of Audiology, and the American Academy of Pediatrics. She has published extensively in the areas of ototoxicity in medically fragile children, and in sensorineural hearing loss among survivors of extra corporeal membrane oxygenation therapy. In addition, she developed an audiological test protocol for children with end stage renal disease.
She is the recipient of the Children’s Hospital “On-the-Spot” award for her contributions to staff education and doctoral student training in audiology. She is a member of the Boston Children’s Hospital Academy for Teaching and Educational Innovation & Scholarship in a fast-paced medical environment, and developed the Sound Outreach program to schools across Massachusetts.
