Caroline F. Echevarría (she/her) is a Senior Instructional Designer on the Educational Technology Team within the Department of Information Technology. A proud alumna and graduate of the Moreau Honors Program at Stonehill College, Caroline earned her Bachelor of Arts in French and Religious Studies with a minor in Secondary Education, as well as her initial licensure to teach French at the secondary level in Massachusetts. She first became interested in educational technology while working as an instructional technology assistant in Stonehill’s IT department while completing her education coursework.

Caroline holds a master's in education in instructional design and a certificate in instructional and learning design from the University of Massachusetts Boston. Prior to her role at Stonehill, she worked as a senior instructional designer at Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (MCPHS) for nearly five years. In this position, she collaborated with faculty at various academic levels, in the areas of online learning, remote learning, hybrid learning, online learning quality assurance, and educational technology utilization.  In her role at Stonehill, Caroline works closely with faculty to integrate instructional design best practices into online courses. She uses a hands-on approach to her instructional design practice, drawing upon research-based principles such as backward design, community of inquiry theory, and universal design for learning (UDL). Additionally, Caroline collaborates with Academic Affairs to oversee the Online Teaching Certification (OTC) program and offers guidance on online learning strategy across the College.

Caroline has a special connection to Stonehill College. Caroline is not only an alumna of Stonehill College but also has strong familial connections to the institution. Her grandfather, Albert J. Birmingham, was among the first graduating classes in 1954.

Outside of work, Caroline enjoys spending time with her husband, their Jack-Russell Terrier, and family and friends across New England and Mexico. Caroline's hobbies include cooking, walking, creating abstract art/painting, playing music, and embracing the world of DIY home improvement.  As an amateur linguist and life-long learner, she loves practicing her conversational skills in French and Spanish. Caroline is honored to be part of Stonehill's online learning initiatives and is so happy to be back at Stonehill!
