Cicily (Roberts) Shaw ’97, President
Paying it Forward: A first-generation college student, Shaw is committed to helping students navigate the college admission process. “It is a passion of mine. I love paying it forward,” says Shaw, who has worked in education for more than 25 years.
Student Days: Shaw recalls collaborating with Jean Hamler, Stonehill’s first director of Intercultural Affairs, to develop a student of color and international student orientation. “It was amazing to watch her make such a great impact on the community."
Calling All Alumni: “I run into Stonehill alumni everywhere,” Shaw notes. “My goal as president is to increase alumni involvement.”
Recent Binge: “My husband and I are huge Marvel fans," says Shaw. "So, we watch anything on Disney+.”
Bethany (Conway) Sosa ’13, Vice President
Choir Practice: As a student, Sosa interned in Washington, D.C., where she joined the choir at the church near her apartment. “Wouldn’t you know, I met a Stonehill alum who was part of the group,” she recalls.
Lasting Community: The Stonehill community has been an integral part of Sosa’s life for more than a decade. “Serving on the board is one way to give back to a community that has done so much for me,” Sosa says.
Coming Home: A resident of New Hampshire, Sosa works in marketing and development for a boarding school. Whenever she travels back to Stonehill, she says, it “feels like home.”
Connections: “I love maps, both old and new—seeing how things used to be and how routes are connected now,” Sosa notes.
Catherine (Goulding) Gemma ’73, Treasurer
Giving Back: An involved alumna, Gemma has served on the Alumni Council as well as the Scholarship and Awards committees. In 1996, she was the recipient of the Alumni Service Award.
Scholarship-Focused: “Raising money for scholarships has always been a goal of mine,” says Gemma. In fact, she started the Alumni Auction in 1993, which raised over $1 million for scholarships in its 20 years.
Impactful Path: “Stonehill had a major impact on who I am and the path I followed in my career,” says Gemma, who recently retired after a successful career as an attorney.
Campus Spot: “I always loved walking on Rhododendron Drive, especially during the first snowfall,” Gemma recalls.
