Inspired Program
Not only was David Erwin ’00 an SAA member at Stonehill, but he also served on the executive board for two years, chaired the career networking committee, and was elected SAA president for his senior year.
He so firmly believed in the mission of the organization that when he became the chief advancement officer at Central Catholic High School in Lawrence, he created a similar program at his school. “I thought, ‘If colleges and universities can do it, why not a high school?’” he recalls.
With more than 300 students in his program, Erwin has recreated some of Stonehill’s signature alumni events, such as the Easter egg hunt and a career networking dinner. “Stonehill’s SAA taught me the importance of philanthropy and staying in touch with your alma mater,” says Erwin.
Erwin was inspired by his mentor Peter LaBreck ’96, who served as the senior associate director of alumni engagement and directed the SAA when Erwin was a student. “He did such a great job managing our group, I sought his guidance when establishing Central Catholic’s program,” says Erwin. In 2019, Erwin’s SAA won the 2019 CASE Emerging Group Award for District One.
