Religious Studies Major / English Minor

As a recent graduate, it feels good to look back on all the things I've participated in and accomplished over my past years here at Stonehill College. Although I've been involved in more things than I can count with two hands and feet, there is one activity that will always be very meaningful to me.

Before entering my sophomore year, I was asked by the Campus Ministry office to participate in a pilot program called CROSSINGS student ministry. I was told that CROSSINGS student ministers would live out the Gospel message of agape (self-gift to others) as their faith informs their spirituality in their daily lives. Living among peers in the residence halls, student ministers will support residents with their presence, attitudes and trained skills.

Although I was slightly skeptical and a tiny bit scared of the challenges that would lie ahead -- and boy there were some -- I decided to take a leap, say yes, and see where the road took me. Now after three years as a CROSSINGS student minister, I can honestly say that no singular program has affected my life more than student ministry.

Not only have I learned many skills and values at Stonehill that will help me grow and prosper in the "real" world as an adult, but I also have worked to make this campus a positive place for people to thrive and be, hopefully, happy. And that, my friends, fills me with joy. If this campus is a little bit happier than when I came into it, then it's been a successful four years.
