Student Profiles

Psychology & Business MajorMy first visit to Stonehill was what made the difference for me. The Student Ambassadors who led my campus tour were so genuine about how much they loved their school that it pulled me in. Now I am an Ambassador, and I try and give every prospective student that same experience I had. Having the chance to convey my own examples of how great the people are at Stonehill is very refreshing, inspiring, and moving. What follows is just one of the many stories that I am privileged to tell.
One Story of Many
At the beginning of sophomore year, I was nominated for the Stonehill Externship Program to New York City -- this is when I first came in contact with Ms. Christina Burney, Associate Director of Career Services at Stonehill.
Ms. Burney is a very energetic, outgoing, and funny person who is extremely professional. She smiles every time that a student says, "I have a question about my resume," or, "Do you know anyone at this company? I would love to intern there." All of these things make it so she loves her job. Her past experience as a Hiring Manager gives her insight into what people look for in a new hire or intern.
Ms. Burney helped me redesign the format of my resume and re-write it completely. She helped me better understand what Hiring Managers look for in potential hires. The level of honesty that she exhibited when it came to conducting the resume critique helped me take a maturing step. After being selected to be one of the eight students to participate in the externship program, Ms. Burney made it clear that her support was unconditional and that it was a resource to be used outside of the Externship Program.
Career Goals Defined
As a result of this valuable interaction, I feel confident that Stonehill's Office of Career Services is doing all that they can to prepare me for a successful career search. I look forward to continuing on a path toward my ultimate goal of becoming a business consultant.
