Sociology & Philosophy / Criminology MinorAs I finish my sophomore year at Stonehill College, I realize how much the College supports my academic goal to attend graduate school and my personal goal to make positive change happen in the world.
The knowledge that I am acquiring through my Sociology and Philosophy majors and my Criminology minor expands my view of the world around me and gives me insight into how I can address its problems. These concepts, coupled with my involvement in the College community as a Resident Assistant, Teacher's Assistant, and through my community service as a religious educator, a mentor at a housing assistance program, and a reading tutor, have illustrated to me that it only takes the actions of a few to make positive change happen in the world.
While acting as a volunteer site coordinator for a few community service organizations through the Into the Streets program, I have been introduced to a number of individuals who take pride in their volunteerism and realize how their community service brightens the days of those whom they assist. These volunteers have shared with me their reasons for volunteering and have persuaded me to consider a year of community service in between Stonehill and my pursuit of a graduate degree in Criminal Justice.
Brittany is from Woodbury, CT.
