Academic Programs

The Cornerstone Program
Consistent with Stonehill College's commitment to the liberal arts, every student takes a series of courses which together form the cornerstone of learning at the College.  Some of the courses are taken by every student, providing a strong common learning foundation, and others are chosen by each student to personalize her or his educational experience.

From studying voice and musical theatre, to studying the ecology of the Everglades through a camping excursion, to visiting Auschwitz to gain insights into the Holocaust, to studying the art and literature of France (in French and in France), the choices are exciting, challenging and highly rewarding!

Majors
Building upon the liberal-arts cornerstone, each student selects an academic major.  Many students arrive at the College without having made this decision, and there is a program that facilitates the exploration and decision processes.

Minors
While a minor is not required, students may choose to augment their major program with a 'supporting competency.'

Directed Study
A rich selection of courses is available at Stonehill College, but no institution could possibly match the varied interests of its student body.  Therefore, if a student wishes to study a subject not currently taught at the College, the directed study course provides this opportunity.

The Honors Program
For the student who aspires to academic leadership, the College offers a creative and intellectually-challenging honors curriculum.
