Daniel F. Conley '80
Suffolk County District Attorney"I went to Stonehill with the vague idea that I wanted to pursue a career in law. I was unsure of what to major in, but then two things happened -- I took Intro to Economics with Professor James Wiles and chose to major in that subject. I also relied on my pre-law advisor, (Political Science Professor) Charles Serns. His advice and counsel were very helpful to me."
After graduating Stonehill in 1980, Conley earned his law degree from Suffolk University in 1983. Later that year he passed the bar and was hired immediately as an assistant district attorney for Suffolk County. Conley was elected to the Boston City Council in 1993 and returned to lead the state's busiest prosecutor's office as D.A. in 2002.
Still, Conley calls Stonehill "some of the best years of my life." "Stonehill is what college should be about," said Conley, 50, now the top law enforcement official for the cities and towns of Boston, Chelsea, Revere and Winthrop. "I made great friends; I received a wonderful education; and I obtained a lifetime of memories."
