Susan Guarino-Ghezzi is an expert on the juvenile justice system. She is the former Director of Research of the Massachusetts Department of Youth Services, and previously founded and directed Make Peace With Police, a non-profit program that provided education and training to Boston police and DYS youths.

Professor Guarino-Ghezzi is co-author of the books Understanding Crime; A Multidisciplinary Approach and Balancing Juvenile Justice. She has served on governmental task forces on juvenile crime and has published numerous peer-reviewed articles in the field of juvenile corrections, in the journals Crime and Delinquency and Law and Policy, among others. She has received over $400,000 in research grants and contracts. Her scholarly work has been cited by Amnesty International, the U.S. Department of Justice, and PBS Frontline.

Professor Guarino-Ghezzi teaches the senior Capstone seminar as well as Juvenile Delinquency, Seminar on Juvenile Justice, and Criminology.

Professor Guarino-Ghezzi has co-authored scholarly articles with two of her students, Bryan Carr, Stonehill class of 1998, and Christopher Tirrell, Stonehill class of 2009. She is the faculty advisor to Prints, a student-run electronic magazine featuring student-authored research and essays (www.stonehillblogs.org/prints).
