Monday Morning Update

Thanksgiving Spirit: Recently, we asked MMU readers why they are thankful this Thanksgiving. Below are ten reflections from MMU readers that capture the spirit of the season.

Moments Together: Dementia holds my parents. I am thankful for our moments together; opportunities to calm fears and to ease conversation by gently filling in the blanks. Professor Susan Mooney '82, Biology

Across the Miles: I am grateful to my parents in India for their constant support through this journey of studying abroad. Though thousand miles away, they hardly make me feel that I am away. Karuna Reang '15

God's Mercy: I am thankful for my imperfections that remind me how dependent I am on God's mercy, and others' imperfections that remind me to show compassion. Dennis Carman '82, President & CEO United Way of Greater Plymouth County

Daughter's Spirit: I am grateful for my daughter's spirit, determination, confidence, and strength. Victoria was born prematurely on 9-11 with a rare craniofacial syndrome. She has associated visual challenges and a language-based learning disability. I am proud to be the mother of such an inspirational child who continues to surprise, encourage, and amaze me with all that she accomplishes. God truly blessed me when he allowed me the privilege to be called her mother. Melinda Rios, Advancement.

Surviving Cancer
: I am thankful for my 30th anniversary of ordination to the Diaconate for the Fall River Diocese and for being a nine year cancer survivor. Professor Bob Faria '62, Foreign Languages

Personal Growth
: I am thankful for the Stonehill education that has helped me to grow intellectually, spiritually, and personally in a community I will always call home. Lynley Joynt '13

Kindness of Strangers: I am thankful for the kindness of strangers. I have been on the receiving end, and I live each day paying it forward. Liza Talusan, Intercultural Affairs

Haiku Verse: The day in each year, Wherever I find myself, Family centered. Gregory Wolfe, Purchasing

Health & Holiness: I am thankful for the love and support of family and community, for good health, holiness and happiness. Mary (Bolen) Brown '95

Hurricane Sandy:
As a Long Islander, I'm thankful for everyone who is providing support to my family and friends who were greatly affected by Hurricane Sandy. Allison Rose '13
