Theatre Arts

Enter the world of Theatre Arts and discover yourself and your abilities anew while challenging your body, mind and imagination.
The program in Theatre Arts provides the student with an additional focus of study in the humanities, education and collaborative arts. The personal development of the student is aided by a deeper understanding of the workings of the human imagination and emotions, the use of the body and voice as a means of expression, and the complexities of interpersonal relationships as seen in art and life. By taking part in the production of plays, the students's senses of responsibility and self-discipline are further tested and strengthened.
Interested students enjoy opportunities to study theatre above and beyond the classroom by attending professional performances in the Boston/New England area. The work of the Stonehill Theatre Company provides numerous hands-on learning experiences both onstage and behind the scenes. Participation in the Kennedy Center/American College Theatre Festival allows our students to compete in various areas including acting, design, tech, dramatic criticism and playwrighting. Students may also collaborate with faculty in directing and designing main stage productions.
Having studied and worked in the Theatre Arts program, you will be ready to puruse further goals related to the theatre and other fields that stress interpersonal communication and require a positive self-image; management and budgeting skills; the ability to be flexible while also establishing and meeting deadlines; and creative thinking and problem solving.
The Theatre Arts program does NOT require an 'entrance' audition. All students, from any discipline, are welcome to audition for our productions and work on various technical crews.
